A Jazzman’s Jazzman: The Gerry Carruthers Story is complete and has been shown to great acclaim at private screenings in Seattle.  After a year and a half of hard work, we believe Gerry deserves a little star time.  So we launched a project on Kickstarter, a microfinancing website for creative people, to raise money to send our film to festivals around the world.  All money donated will go towards submission fees, postage, and film transfers, and backers are eligible to receive great rewards, like a download of the movie (only $10!)

Cro-Magnon’s popular short Man Talk was an official selection at the 2010 Port Townsend Film Festival.  Paul and Ben traveled to this lovely town on the Olympic Peninsula for an amazing weekend of great films, great schmoozing, and rave reviews of their work!

We are excited to announce the completion of our first feature film, “A Jazzman’s Jazzman: the Gerry Carruthers Story.”  The film is a mockumentary that tells the story of Gerry Carruthers, an eccentric jazz musician.  Featuring improvised performances by some of Seattle’s best acting talent, a terrific score, and beautiful stop-motion animation, the film runs just under an hour.

We’ll be announcing the date and location of our premiere soon!

Man Talk and The Mr. Azymuth Suite will be shown for a full week at the Grand Illusion theater in the University District.  From September 4th through the 10th, you can see both films, as well as many other local comedy shorts, as part of the Grand Illusion’s new Washington Grown film series.  So mark your calendar, tell your friends, and help support local filmmaking!

Our installation based on our short film “Man Talk” is on display at ACT, A Contemporary Theatre, along with four other installations.  ACT is located at 7th Avenue and Union Street in downtown Seattle.  Come see Kevin’s cubicle from the window on 7th Avenue, then step inside to the Falls Theatre/Bullitt Cabaret lobby to see Marty’s executive office.  Read their inter-office memos and calendar entries!  Be inspired by their business-themed posters!  The film plays on a loop every weekday after 5:00pm, and all weekend.  The installation will be on display until September.
